Management

Co-founders Brent Israelsen and Bruce Brown brought ContractPal to life in July 2001. Since then, a lot of outstanding technical and business people have worked for the company, including Rod Hawes, one of the foremost executives in the financial services sector and the Company's long standing mentor, David Moon, the company's chairman and former chief technology officer of the State of Utah and WordPerfect, and David Martineau, the company's chief technology officer. In addition, a lot of great people have and continue to advise the company.

Rob Hicks
Chief Executive Officer

Rob is responsible for the execution of ContractPal's business plan. Rob has founded several start up companies and brought them to successful conclusions and has held several business and legal positions in larger companies, including vice president of Novell Ventures, founder, president and chief executive officer of The Canopy Group, and vice president of corporate development and associate general counsel of Novell. Rob holds a JD and MBA from the University of Utah.

 

Brad Curtis
Chief Marketing Officer & VP of Sales

Brad is responsible for the strategy and execution of ContractPal's marketing, sales and business development efforts. Brad is a seasoned technology executive who has successfully grown companies and products. Brad's experience ranges from small and mid-size companies to Fortune 25 companies including Dell, Inc. Brad received an MBA from Duke University and a BA from BYU.

 

Dave Martineau
Chief Technology Officer

Dave is responsible for ContractPal's technology vision. Dave leads ContractPal's development efforts and monitors new technologies to assess their potential to become part of ContractPal. Dave has a BS from BYU.

 

Warren Owens
VP of Operations

Warren has over 25 years of executive experience with leading-edge technology companies in a cross-functional capacity of operations, management and sales.  Warren has spent a significant part of his career working with fortune 25 companies in the global ecommerce and insurance industry.  Warren holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Utah.

Lance is responsible for all Pal application development, training, and support.  He brings a wealth of expertise to his position with a unique background in web application development, training and technical sales.  Lance is skilled at transforming our clients’ complex business processes into streamlined web-based applications.

David Moon
Chairman & General Partner, EsNet Group

Dave is a general partner of EsNet Group. Dave's previous work experience includes a broad range of roles in technology, computer science, and corporate management. After graduating from Brigham Young University in 1983 in Computer Science, he worked as a software engineer for WordPerfect Corporation for many years, helping design and develop key features in the company's desktop application products. He served as the Chief Technology Officer and Senior Vice President of Development at WordPerfect prior to its merger with Novell. While at Novell, Dave served as a Senior Vice President for product and technology development. After leaving Novell, Dave served as the Chief Information Officer for the State of Utah for three years. As a member of Governor Leavitt's Cabinet and Senior Advisory Staff, he was responsible for overseeing and coordinating all information services and technology initiatives for state government. Under his direction the Sate of Utah made significant progress in dealing with Y2K changes, introducing web-based government services, and enabling digital electronic transactions. Dave also serves on several other boards.

Steven T. Hawes
Managing Principal and Co-founder of Hawes / Brubaker / Neider LLC

Steve is a managing principal and co-founder of Hawes Brubaker Neider, LLC.  Steve has more than 15 years of experience in middle-market M&A both as an advisor and as a venture capital principal in turnaround, start-up and arbitrage transactions.  In several of these transactions, he assumed the role of CEO / COO and managed the businesses until disposition.  Businesses were located throughout the United States and industries included real estate, consumer finance, manufacturing, food and beverage, specialty medical products, marketing and in-bound call centers.  Prior to his years in business school, he was Regional Manager for WordPerfect in New York City.  Steve holds a BA from Brigham Young University and a MBA from the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University, Durham, North Carolina.

Darryl L. Neider
 Managing Principal of Hawes / Brubaker / Neider LLC

Darryl is a managing principal with Hawes / Brubaker / Neider LLC.  Prior to relocating to the Salt Lake City area to join HBN, he was managing partner of Growth Capital Funding Group, a professional financial advisory firm specializing in start-up and small- to medium-sized company M&A, corporate structuring and capital procurement.  Darryl has more than 23 years of experience in corporate and project finance and has arranged and placed financings for real estate development, oil and gas exploration / development / refining / marketing, mining, construction projects, consumer finance and web-based businesses.  Until 1994, Darryl was with Bank of America Energy Group where he became a managing director and team leader in New York and Houston.  He then joined the New York office of Barclays Bank PLC, where he was named Head of Investment Banking in Oil and Gas for the Americas until 2000 when he established Growth Capital.  Mr. Neider has broad experience in corporate and project finance in sourcing capital from variety of markets including private equity, debt-project, private placements (144a and Reg. D), bonds, MLA and ECA - and mezzanine projects / transactions in the US, Africa, the North Sea, Ecuador, Europe, Colombia, Thailand, Trinidad and Tobago, Brazil, Chile, Mexico, Canada and Australia.  Darryl holds a BA from Brigham Young University and a MBA in Finance from the University of Utah.

Rodney A. Hawes, Jr.
Entrepreneur and Investment Banker

Rod is an entrepreneur and long time investment banker to the financial services sector.  Among his many successful projects, Rod was Founder, Chairman and CEO of Life Re (NYSE) which was purchased by Swiss Re.  Rod is a Distinguished Military Graduate of Stanford University and has an MBA from Harvard University where he was a Baker Scholar.  Hawes Hall, a new classroom building at Harvard Business School was dedicated in his honor in April 2002.

Duff Thompson
General Partner, EsNet Group

Duff is a managing general partner of the EsNet Group. Duff has been active in the technology industry since the mid-1980's serving as Executive Vice President and General Counsel for WordPerfect Corporation from 1986-1994, and Senior Vice President of Novell, Inc. from 1994-1996. Prior to working with WordPerfect Corporation, Duff was a partner in the firm of Callister, McCullough and Nebeker, working there from 1983-1986.

Duff has served as a past chairman of the Business Software Alliance, and currently serves on the Board of Directors of Santa Cruz Operation ("SCO" Nasdaq). Duff holds a bachelor degree in Economics from Brigham Young University, together with both a Masters in Business Administration and J.D. degree, also from BYU.

Dan Campbell
General Partner, EsNet Group

Dan is a managing general partner of the EsNet Group. Dan began his professional career in the San Francisco office of Price Waterhouse. In 1989, he moved to Salt Lake City as a partner of Price Waterhouse and served as a member of the Price Waterhouse High Technology and Software Services committees. In 1992, he joined WordPerfect Corporation as senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer.

Currently, Dan serves on the Provo City Power Board, Provo Business Development Corporation Board, Utah Valley State College Board of Trustees, Brigham Young University Marriot School of Business Advisory Board, as well as being on the Boards of the public companies of NuSkin Enterprises and Syzygy AG. Dan is a graduate of Brigham Young University.
