Sandbox Signup

To get started using ContractPal to develop your own applications or Pals, we encourage you to sign up on our test server farm, known as the ContractPal sandbox environment. Like the ContractPal production environment, SIGNING UP FOR ContractPal IS FREE AND EASY.

Here are the steps to signing up:

  1. Set up a personal account - Click here. This will open up a new window and will display the main ContractPal login page.

  2. Follow the account creation process - Click on the "Click here to create new account" link and follow the account creation process. You will have to have access to the email account that you in the process to successfully create a personal account. You will notice that ContractPal requires passwords of a certain length and provides security questions as part of the sign up process. It does so because security is important to us. We believe that your ContractPal account should be as secure as any banking site that you might visit.
  3. Sign the personal account agreement - Read the agreement and sign it. It is simple and straightforward. Click the transaction's exit button (upper right hand corner) to exit the agreement to ContractPal's console.
  4. Look around - When you first log into ContractPal, you will see your personal transactions. Go ahead and click on the eye glasses to view the agreement you just signed. Then exit again.

  5. Now create an enterprise - Now click on the Pals tab in the blue navigation bar. Click the "Create Enterprise Account" link in the middle of the page. Follow the the instructions to sign the Enterprise Subscription Agreement. This agreement governs use of ContractPal by the enterprise.
  6. Switch to your new enterprise - Once the Enterprise Subscription Agreement is signed, exit the transaction using the exit button in the upper right hand corner. Logout of ContractPal and then log back in. Now pick your enterprise by selecting it from the profile picker in the upper right hand corner of ContractPal's console.

  7. Set up users and rights - Feel free to browse around. You will note that you cannot see any of your personal transactions while your enterprise profile is active. That's because the enterprise has not yet engaged in any transactions. Look at your personal profile (My Profile) tab. This is your profile for the enterprise. It is not the same as your personal profile. Look at the Pals tab. You will note that it is different than under your personal profile because as an enterprise user, you can now create Pals. Now select the "Enterprise Admin" tab and select "USERS" in the subnavigation on the left. You should see your name. Select the edit icon and look at your rights. Make sure you have the rights you want. To get a better feel for these rights, look at the Permissions section of the ContractPal wiki. Now click to add users. Follow the screens and make sure that you use the email addresses that you want your users to use while working on your enterprise profile (they can't change them).

  8. Create a Pal - Now browse to the Pal tab and create a Pal. You can either create a Pal by importing a Pal or by creating it from scratch. Initially to get a quick look at creating a Pal, we recommend that you create one from import. To use the create from import feature, you will need to have a Pal on your local disk. You can download a Pal here. Once you have created your Pal (from scratch or upload), you will see the ContractPal online Pal viewer.

  9. Start editing - Using the Pal Viewer, you can see the structure of the Pal. And, you can change some of the properties of the Pal. To do so, expand the Properties folder in the tree on the left and click on one of the various elements. Doing this will give you a feel for what can be edited using the Pal Viewer. Once you are done exploring, exit the Pal Viewer by closing the Pal Viewer window - this is the window inside the browser, not the browser itself. Now click the edit button for the Pal you just created or uploaded. This will launch ContractPal's online integrated development environment (IDE), known as Composer. Composer requires Sun JVM 1.5 or higher to run. To get the latest Sun JVM, click here.

Congratulations! You are your way to developing Pals with ContractPal.
